Dear Orly and Judy,
With reference to our meeting on Thursday, March 7, 2002 with Shirley Moscovitch,
Executive Director, of MDA - Canada, Benzi Sella,
Yvonne Margo and Orly Pinchuk,
it was decided by the National Board of MDA Canada to fundraise an ambulance in
memory of Yochai Porat z'l. Orly Pinchuk and Judith Zlotnick will
be the co-chairs of this campaign to
raise $81,500.00 Canadian.
In this meeting we decided to focus our efforts on three events:
1. Sunday, March 17 - Israel Day -
Cavendish Mall;
2. Involve
past participants of MDA, Birthright, Hillel
students & synagogues in fundraising;
3. Telethon on a Sunday;
4. Publicity.
1. Sunday, March 17, 2002 - ISRAEL DAY - Cavendish Mall
- Israel Aliyah
Center will have a table near the MDA table. Orly
will prepare
a letter which will be distributed to the community at large starting on Israel Day. In this letter, there
be details of how to contribute their donation -to be handed as soon as possible to the Israel Aliyah
Center;
- Judy will
organize the past participants to come at different shifts (2 per shift)
during the day between 11- 5 pm.;
- Money will
be collected at different tables- MDA, Israel Aliyah,
Israel Experience,
Hillel...
2. Involement of the Community
- Send Orly's letter to: a)
email: birthright (Franc Azoulay) &
Hillel mailing list (Simon Bensimon)
Federation CJA;
b) mailing: synagogues,
past participants since the beginning of program;
- Inform the synagogue by giving a
lecture by past participants. Orly will contact
Spanish & Portuguese, Judy - Beth Ora; Yves Benabu & Eric Chetrit - Ohr Hahayim
& Beth Rambam;
3. Telethon on Sunday
- The Israel Aliyah
will open the office to use their telephones to contact people from the Jewish
community;
- The list
will have to be prepared in minimum a week in advance;
- A date
needs to be determined which will suitable to the students;
4. Publicity
- the National office of MDA Canada
will be placing an ad in the Canadian
Jewish News.;

Distribution of Orly's letter to the Jewish Day
schools;
These are the ideas that came out of our first meeting,
however your input is most valuable as to
any other suggestions. The Israel Aliyah is available to help you to succeed in this campaign.
We will inform the Israel Aliyah Center in Toronto of the activities
in Montreal.
